Ice rebound against LA

UPDATE -- Thanks to the poster who found this:

Utah Grizzlies - AHL Add John Negrin, D assigned from Abbotsford (AHL) by Calgary (NHL)

It never occurred to me to check the ECHL transactions. It's been a long drop for Negrin, a prospect who was that close to cracking the Flames roster one year ago.

Drew Czerwonka made his season debut with a C on the his sweater and a puck in the net, on his second shift no less, as the Ice edged the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1 at the Rec Plex Friday.

The recently-named captain Czerwonka skated on the club's top line with Max at Centre and Jesse Ismond on the wing. While 15-year-old Sam Reinhart was moved to the third unit with Joe Antilla and Eric Benoit.

Czerwonka's goal came off a goal-mouth scramble 1:32 into the game with the Ice on the power play.

Elgin Pearce ripped the game-winner, again on the power play, past Lethbridge starter Damien Ketlo for the win.

Nathan Lieuwen stopped 16 of 17 shots to improve to 4-1-0-2 on the season with a minuscule 1.26 GAA and .952 Save percentage.

On the road this weekend with the Bantams so I'm a fan listening to Holick and CP on the radio.

Saw that the Swift Current Broncos sent G Steven Myland to North Delta of the PIJHL which was the writing on the wall when the club acquired overage goaltender Jon Groenhyde from the Oil Kings last week. Myland was part of the 5-for-1 deal (plus three Bantam Picks) that saw the Ice get Cody Eakin last season.

Love CP's 'Where are they now?' feature on the broadcast tonight. Had Jaroslav Svoboda, who's played in the Czech Republic for the last five seasons, and Zdenek Blatny - who is now playing in Austria. On that note, for those following James Martin in the AHL with the Abbotsford Heat, the Heat won their home début over Rockford but both Martin and former Ice D-man John Negrin weren't in the line-up. Dustin Sylvester set up the game-winner in the third for the Heat

The Prince Albert Raiders, who lost 3-2 in OT in Spokane are here tomorrow night. The Raiders are the tail end of a six-game road trip in which they have two wins.
