G Nathan Lieuwen stopped 33 of 34 shots to backstop the Ice to a 2-1 victory over the Red Deer Rebels for the club's first road win of the young season.
The Ice improve to 4-1-0-2 and 10 points, first in the Central and tied for first in the Eastern Conference.
Max Reinhart notched his 4th of the season in the first and then, with the game tied with 3:12 left in the second Elgin Pearce's second stood up to be the game-winner
Kootenay was 2-6 on the power play.
Coach Kris Knoblauch put both Reinhart's on the same line, with some success. The scratches were F Drew Czerwonka (shoulder) who should play this week; F Brendan Hurley (Charlie Horse) and D Mike Simpson.
The Edmonton Oil Kings are here Wednesday night.

I see Martin never dressed for the first AHL regular season game?? Could he still return?
Yes, Martin is still eligible to return up until the AHL roster deadline. If he was to return the club would have two weeks to make a decision on the 20's.

When is the final roster date for the midget age players/18-19year olds and the 20 year olds? I thought Oct 14 was the deadline for the 20's.

The final roster date for the WHL is the trade deadline, but they can release any age group before that. October 13 is the 20-year-old deadline when club's must be down to three. But if one is returned by the pro ranks then the club has two weeks from the date they are returned to get down to three.
So Martin could return on the 13th and the Ice could play with 4- 20yr olds for 2 weeks before moving one of them? and when is the trade deadline? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get some time frame on what may or may not happen.
The Trade Deadline, though as yet unannounced by the league, should be January 10.
If Martin was to return the club at any time before the roster deadline (trade deadline)the club would then have two weeks to decide on three and trade the fourth. Only three could be in the line up for any game though.
